Divine Shade continues to unleash their neo industrial rock sounds into the ether with their latest single, “Hate And Oblivion.” The band is based in Lyon, France, and has already collaborated with prominent figures in the industrial music scene, from Gary Numan to former Nine Inch Nails drummer, Chris Vrenna. The new single gives a taste of a bigger forthcoming project.

“Hate And Oblivion” will be part of the album Fragments Vol.1, which is slated to debut this January. Regarding the work, frontman Rémi has commented, “The theme of this album will focus on the concept of resilience.” Their recent song sets the stage nicely for this theme.

The last single I reviewed from the group was “Oublier,” which was recorded in French. “Hate And Oblivion” is an English-language track but still delivers darkly poetic lyrics. It paints an image of a desolate world consumed by hatred where nothing but ashes and bones remain. It reminds us that when we get so swallowed up by feelings of animosity, we risk creating a void within ourselves and in the environment around us. The final verse expresses leaving the negative behind to fully embrace love.

This is a powerful and needed message to share during these times when so much uncertainty and fear exists across the globe. The soundscape of the song is fitting with its aggressive electronic beats and robust guitars. In the last review, I mentioned fans of Nine Inch Nails should check out Divine Shade. I’m also going to add that if you enjoy Skinny Puppy and KMFDM, this band’s music will likely appeal to you.

“Hate And Oblivion” is now streaming across multiple music platforms. Make sure to keep your ears open for when Divine Shade releases their upcoming full-length album.
