A few years have passed since Low Blows last album release, and they’re ready to unleash new music. The post-punk band based in Barcelona, Spain, is dropping their self-titled album to usher in 2026. It’s their second LP and my introduction to the group. As soon as the opening track started playing, my ears perked up and wanted to hear more.

The trio that makes up Low Blows has been working on the project for the past two years. The LP was brought to fruition in collaboration with producer Matteo Vallicelli (drummer of The Soft Moon) and mixed by Lluis Cots at Estudi Nautilus and mastered by Maurizio Baggio at La Distilleria. The time and care the group put into the album is evident. Every song exudes a depth that is not present in a lot of popular music today.

“This record was inspired by the path we’ve walked both as individuals and as a band — by the emotions that surfaced in contrast to the existential void and decay of western culture.”

-Low Blows

There are English and Spanish-language tracks, which I appreciated. “Vacío” (Empty) sounded alluring with vocals that draw you further into the void. “Fix Me” and “Go!” possessed a more upbeat rhythm perfect for the goth dancefloor. One of my personal favorites had to be “Misleading Blind,” which had a hypnotic, dystopian beat. “Intermezzo” was a fascinating number that made me feel as if I was on another planet. There are no vocals; it’s just pure ambient, atmospheric sound.

The post-punk and darkwave influences made this album enjoyable to listen to. Low Blows knows how to create music that makes you move and feel.

The band’s self-titled LP, Low Blows, is available to stream on a variety of music platforms. Cassettes and vinyl are also available to purchase. Here’s a look at their music video to “Vacío.”
