Black Moon Cosmetics now has a brick-and-mortar store in Burbank, California! The brand launched an online shop in 2015 and has grown an amazing following of dark beauty enthusiasts who adore their products. They opened at the beginning of 2026 and are located just a few blocks away from what is known as Burbank’s “Horror Row,” a street lined with spooky small businesses. I finally paid a visit to the makeup store and am here to give you a peek behind the curtain.
As indicated by the name, Black Moon Cosmetics takes inspiration from the moon, developing a makeup line that embodies mystery, magic, and celestial elements. Their inventory includes items for the lips, eyes, face and body, as well as tools and accessories. All of their products have an iridescent glow that exudes a supernatural quality. If you want to achieve a look that makes it seem as if you bathed among the stars, their collections will make that possible.
The shop is an intimate space that drips with gothic elegance. A raven-colored chandelier hangs from the ceiling, and a big, red heart centerpiece display with a table in front of it welcomes guests as they enter. The setup reminded me of a Victorian seance. There’s a seating area in one corner with a literal moon light overlooking it that’s nestled between black drapery.
The boutique also has an event space in the back. The red glow emanating from this area caught my attention. I stepped into a long room. It’s decorated simply with two Victorian-style couches at the end and a flat screen TV with a fireplace display. It’s used for social functions and special events that Black Moon Cosmetics hosts.
In the main room, they have tall cases displaying different makeup categories: eyes and body; lips; and sets and accessories. The brand is most known for their lip products. Their lip glosses and liquid-to-matte lip items are very popular because of the smooth, glowing effect they give off. The metallic sheen is eye-catching. Plus, they’re available in a range of gorgeous colors with fascinating names like “Bones,” “Grim,” “Poseidon,” and “Immortal.”

I tried a few swatches of the lips colors on my hand. I couldn’t take my eyes off this emerald-colored liquid-to-matte product called “Wendigo.” That went in my shopping basket for sure! I also walked away with a couple of lip color duo sets. They were Heart’s Desire and Mon Cher. They were a mix of red shades along with one black liquid lipstick.
I know ethics are really important when it comes to the makeup brands we shop with, and I’m happy to share that Black Moon Cosmetics is proudly cruelty-free and vegan. After following the brand on social media for years, I was glad to be able to see their items in person, and it’s great to know they have a store I can walk into. The shop is small, and they have a limited assortment, so there aren’t aisles to walk down and explore. However, it does provide a true boutique experience, and if you’re in the Burbank area and love cosmetics, definitely stop in.
