Since the 1990s, Midnight Syndicate has been haunting the music circuit with their spine-tingling melodies. Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka are the pair behind the music project. They specialize in the gothic and horror music genres and are authorities in creating dark atmospheric soundscapes. Their work has been used in films, video games, Halloween attractions, and more worldwide. This fall season, Midnight Syndicate has given fans a treat with a new EP, Darkened Corners.
The EP is a compilation of rare and unreleased tracks from the past two decades. Getting the opportunity to listen to never-before-heard works is just one reason to check out the album. Over the years, Midnight Syndicate has partnered with a range of amusement parks on creating the soundtracks for their haunt events. These exclusive tracks are featured on the EP, as well as pieces from their live shows and unreleased movie projects. Douglas and Goszka have shared their thoughts on Darkened Corners, saying, “We’ve wanted to share this material and make it more readily available for a while now. It gives fans a glimpse into some of the other projects we’ve undertaken when not working on studio albums.”
As a long-time fan of Midnight Syndicate (I’m talking 20+ years), I look forward to the group’s new releases. “Crackjaw” exudes a suspenseful tone and if you close your eyes, you can easily imagine yourself in an eerie setting. I enjoy melancholy pieces, so “Sleep” was a favorite of mine. The strings and ghostly timbre make it ideal to play in the background if you’re reading a gothic horror novel. If you enjoy your horror with Wild West influences, then the remix of “Morbid Fascination” is right up your alley. The final track, “Unrest in the East Wing,” is a great way to wrap up the EP. It’s a thrilling remix and one that will sweep you away with its horror-filled energy. And I cannot fail to mention the album artwork by French artist Pascal Casolari. It’s quite evocative of forgotten, haunted spaces.
Besides unveiling a new EP, Midnight Syndicate has been hard at work on other projects. They developed the official soundtrack for the year-round horror experience Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas! If you haven’t heard of the attraction, definitely look it up. They’re also in the process of producing their next full-length album, which they plan to reveal in 2026:
“This next album has been in development for a while now,” said Edward Douglas. “We’re really happy with the direction it’s heading and are looking forward to next year. In the meantime, we hope DARKENED CORNERS gives everyone a few more tracks to consider for their Halloween listening this season.” -Midnight Syndicate
Darkened Corners is now available on various music platforms, and you can also purchase a physical CD copy on the band’s website. Make sure to follow Midnight Syndicate on social media for the latest updates and join their Legions of the Night community for exclusive access and perks.

It is certainly an interesting group and the music (the two above) is haunting.
