Redder Moon is a Latinx gothic new wave band based in Kansas City, Missouri. Cousins Jeremiah James Gonzales (frontman and songwriter) and Sergio Gonzales-Gonzales (touring bassist) are Mexican American and the faces of the group. The duo just debuted a new music video for “If You’re Falling, Dive,” which is the title track of their latest full-length album of the same name. The video showcases deep contemplation transpiring within the shadows.

“If You’re Falling, Dive” ruminates on mortality, identity, and the many paths in life we could’ve traversed. The track plays with the idea of the different alternate realities that might exist for each and everyone of us. However, the lyrics entreat us to not linger on what we might’ve been, but what we can still be by transforming an uncontrollable fall into a purposeful dive.

The accompanying music video integrates twilight and shadows into the visuals to communicate the song’s message. Animated scenes are interspersed, which seem to signify the parallel universes we may find ourselves lost in. In certain clips, half of vocalist Jeremiah’s visage is hidden either with a mask or by darkness. The effects and the way the video utilizes the color spectrum and light creatively depict the underlying significance of the track.

“What begins as chaos can become transformation.”

– Jeremiah James Gonzales, Redder Moon

The sound of “If You’re Falling, Dive” is like a synth ballad. Jeremiah’s vocals are deep and crooning, amplifying the solitude and introspection of the song. The music makes you want to close your eyes and sway.

Redder Moon defines their style as synth-driven post-punk and gothic new wave. They’ve been compared to bands like Depeche Mode, The Chameleons, Clan of Xymox, and The Human League. The duo has toured with notable bands in the goth scene, including NITE, Matte Blvck, and Vision Video. They’re in the midst of preparing for their 2026 U.S. tour, so keep an eye out because they may play in your city.
