Ceremony Shadows certainly exemplifies the power of three through their music. What began as a solo endeavor initiated by Timo is now a triumvirate with the addition of vocalists Anastasia and Jakub. The band members come from various parts of the globe, including the U.S., Germany and Poland. These places, as well as the various alternative music scenes and cultures they’ve immersed in, influence their sound and creation process. This holy trinity is producing ritual darkwave and has released their newest track, “Resistance,” which will be part of their upcoming full-length album.
From the beginning, I was carried away by the song’s mesmerizing melody. It makes you want to close your eyes, sway and surrender to the beat. As the title suggests, the theme centers on the concept of resistance and how it can work for us or against us. When sharing their own musings on the significance of the track, the band explains, “Trust that Resistance exists to push us to obliterate limitations. The greatest form of Resistance is ourselves.”
The lyrics explore this philosophy, drawing the listener into their poetic rhythm. The song encourages us to examine our relationship with resistance while the darkwave and synthpop sounds urge us to simply dance and let go. It’s the perfect push and pull effect. The layering of multiple vocals is also absorbing, creating a futuristic, multidimensional ambience.
I am certainly anticipating the release of the group’s album. If you enjoy music by the likes of Boy Harsher, Fever Ray, Depeche Mode, Spike Hellis and Pixel Grip, I have no doubt you’ll be absolutely entranced by Ceremony Shadows. You won’t be able to resist. Just listen for yourself.
This was great, I really enjoyed listening to their music 🎶!
