Before the pandemic hit, I could often be found taking in the latest dark art exhibits happening local to me. It’s no surprise that in-person art events largely ceased over the past year and a half, so it’s been a while since I’ve set foot in a gallery. Now with many Covid-19 restrictions lifting in the City of Angels, spaces are reopening their doors, welcoming patrons to admire the macabre works of gifted artists up close. For those whose artistic tastes lean towards the grotesque, bizarre and otherworldly, then the following dark art galleries in Los Angeles, California, will tickle your fancy. I’ve paid a visit to most of these establishments and look forward to returning soon to cover future art shows. Seven Sins & Loss at Copro Gallery

 

The seven deadly sins are at the forefront of Copro Gallery’s newest exhibit. The establishment, located in Santa Monica, California, unveiled “Seven Sins: Transgressions in Art” this past weekend. The exhibit is curated by Cris Velasco, an avid collector of Dark Art and a composer renowned for his video game scores, which include “Resident Evil” and “Assassin’s Creed.” Also on display is “Loss” by self-taught artist Menton3. The collection is quite personal and inspired by the recent passing of his brother.

The Art of the Grotesque at Copro Gallery

Located in Santa Monica, California, Copro Gallery showcases high-quality works by up-and-coming artists. This past weekend, I attended opening night of its latest exhibit, “Conjoined vs. Grotesque: Denizens of the Dark.” The event welcomed the public to enter a morbidly fascinating world created by some of the most talented individuals in the Dark Contemporary Art Movement, motion picture and music industries and beyond.
