Hot of the press! The masterminds behind the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention, Midsummer Scream, have just dropped some major announcements. At Vamp Jenn’s Corner, we’re already planning for the biggest event of summerween and of the year, for that matter. I had to share some exciting news I recently received regarding what frights guests can look forward to for 2024.
I’ve attended and covered Midsummer Scream annually for the last several years. This year marks the Hallowen and horror con’s seventh anniversary. It will return to the Long Beach Convention Center in Southern California from July 26th to July 28th. The theme is “A Haunting,” and the event will center around fictional and real ghost stories and the paranormal. How coincidental that the most recent events I’ve checked out involved a paranormal investigation aboard a haunted ship and the exploration into the death of The Black Dahlia. It’s like I’m already preparing for what’s in store. The convention will also spotlight the horror-inspired artwork of Suspiria Vilchez of Suspiria Land who created the official event art for 2024.
Many people highly anticipate the announcement of celebrity special guest lineups and the panel presentations. While the full list has yet to be disclosed, I can confirm that The Boulet Brothers of Dragula will be returning! I can’t wait to see which drag supermonsters they bring with them this year. Also coming back from the grave for panel discussions will be the crews behind Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest and the Winchester Mystery House. Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group will also be featured to, no doubt, give a sneak peek behind what they have brewing for LA Haunted Hayride, Delusion, Shaqtoberfest and the Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns.
“For tens of thousands of Halloween lovers throughout Southern California and beyond, Midsummer Scream has become the official start of the Halloween season.”
-David Markland, co-founder and executive director of Midsummer Scream
Horror fans will be delighted to know that Roger L. Jackson, who was the voice of Scream’s Ghost Face, and John Kassir from Tales from the Crypt will also be making appearances. Garret Sander, the creator of the TV series Monster High, and his voice cast are slated to be present as well. And that’s just the tip of the witch’s hat. More celebrity guests and presentations will be revealed in the weeks to follow.
There are also staple Midsummer Scream features that people can enjoy yet again, such as the expansive Hall of Shadows featuring haunted attractions, the kid-friendly Pumpkin Patch, the Black Cat Lounge and the Screaming Room Film Festival. Not to mention the more than 300 spooky vendors that will be sprawled across the venue, like Trick or Treat Studios, the Halloween Shirt Company, Backstitch Bruja and so many others.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 2nd, and prices start at $35. For a limited time, general admission will be 40% off. You can also purchase non-discounted VIP “Gold Bat” passes. FYI: the VIP tickets sold out last year, so you better move faster than a zombie if you want to secure some. Make sure to follow Midsummer Scream on social media if you want to be the first to hear important announcements. All I can say is I am so excited to attend this edition of the Halloween and horror convention. I hope to see some of you there!

Wow that seems incredible. I have never been to Midsummer Scream. One day I would like to visit.
