I'm a writer and an avid reader. I was classically trained in voice years ago and once aspired to become an opera singer. I enjoy immersing myself in music, from classical to goth rock tunes. I'm fascinated with vampires, all things spooky, vintage style and old Hollywood films. My website covers events, people, places and topics that embody all that is odd and macabre.
Patricio Zenteno and Priscila Ugalde of Seatemples
Seatemples has been active in the goth music scene for over a decade and continues to entrance listeners with their sound from their homebase in Chile. I had the pleasure of interviewing the members a couple of years ago. At the time, they hinted at a larger project they had in the works. That project was their EP, Los Templos Marinos, which they just released. I immersed myself in the songs and am impressed by what they’ve produced.
The Witches Brew is a Los Angeles-based event organizer that hosts a variety of spooky events throughout the year. They recently presented a Valloween night market in Santa Ana, California, for all those searching for macabre Valentine’s Day gifts for either themselves or others. I had a wonderful time browsing and am here to share what I witnessed that evening.
The Dead Electrics arrived on the alternative music scene a few years ago when they debuted their first track in 2018. Since then, they’ve produced a mix of singles and an EP catering to the post-punk, darkwave, and industrial music crowds. They describe their style as “Music for the Strange of Heart.” Their newest song, “Thots and Prayers,” continues the band’s exploration into cryptic realms and subject matter.
Divine Shade is starting the year off on a high note with the release of their debut full-length album, Fragments-Vol. 1. The neo-industrial band has roots in Lyon, France. They’ve been around for a decade, releasing singles and touring across Europe. While I’ve reviewed a couple of their tracks, I was eager to listen to their first LP.
Vamp Jenn inside the Miss Havisham’s Curiosities & Veneration of Light shop
A most delightfully macabre shop has opened its doors in San Pedro, CA. Melissa Johnson of Miss Havisham’s Curiosities and Heather Allison of Veneration of Light have come together to establish a brick and mortar that houses their exquisite creations, which include tea sets and dark fine art. They recently hosted a soft opening, and I had an amazing time exploring their retail space.

Hurtsfall is creating a unique and captivating sound that brings together goth and soul. Their latest track, “Lost Souls (Driving at Night),” puts vampires in the spotlight and, being a vampire enthusiast, that caught my attention. With this new release, the band is deepening their foray into dark, intriguing soundscapes.
Ceremony Shadows is gearing up to release a full-length album in the near future and has dropped another track that will be part it, “Reclaim.” The group, which consists of members Timo, Anastasia, and Jakub, produces evocative ritual darkwave music with compelling messages. Their latest single beckons listeners to take back their autonomy.
While one year has gone, another has begun. That means it’s time to look ahead to see what spooky surprises 2025 has in store. Every year on Vamp Jenn’s Corner, I like to compile a list of events that are taking place worldwide throughout the course of the next 12 months. My Odd & Macabre Events Calendar highlights all sorts of gatherings that fall under the strange and unusual umbrella. My hope is that it makes it easier to discover spooky events happening near you.
I include horror cons, immersive experiences, macabre holidays, dark art exhibits, Halloween haunts, and so much more. Some events are returning, so you may have seen them on my past calendars. I try to feature as many things as possible that take place across the globe, so a variety of locations are covered. I also do my best to keep this post updated and add more functions as I learn about them. Here’s a taste of what morbid and bizarre happenings you can expect in 2025. The ending of a year can be rife with mixed emotions. I find that how I celebrate can set the vibe for the next 12 months, and ushering in a new year with a burlesque show kickstarts it in a playful way. When Dita Von Teese announced she would be hosting a New Year’s Eve gala in Los Angeles, I knew that’s how I wanted to bid adieu to 2024. Curious to know what happens during a Von Teese burlesque extravaganza? Here’s a peek!
Divine Shade continues to unleash their neo industrial rock sounds into the ether with their latest single, “Hate And Oblivion.” The band is based in Lyon, France, and has already collaborated with prominent figures in the industrial music scene, from Gary Numan to former Nine Inch Nails drummer, Chris Vrenna. The new single gives a taste of a bigger forthcoming project.
