The Oddities Flea Market at the Globe Theatre

Some of you may recall that I attended The Oddities Flea Market last September, its first time in Los Angeles. Well, the Brooklyn-based event returned this past weekend to the Globe Theatre. Since there was such an overwhelming turnout at the last flea market (I waited two hours in line to get in), husband and wife Ryan Matthew and Regina Marie Cohn spanned the occasion across two days. They also added an after-party on Saturday night, which I was happy to attend.

Taxidermy, bizarre art, dark fashion, skeletal creations, antique finds, jewelry and medical objects were just a few of the curiosities on display at The Oddities Flea Market. The event debuted in 2017 and originally takes places at the Brooklyn Bazaar in New York a few times a year. This was the first time the market had come to Los Angeles, so of course I had to attend. Burlesque has seen a major revival across the globe due to prominent figures such as Dita Von Teese. I have an appreciation for its history and the art it is today. Right in downtown Los Angeles, professional dancer Miss Donna Hood and her troupe entertain crowds with the production “TEASE, if you please!” at the historic Globe Theatre.
